Public services
Reports, records, jail and inmate information, offender registration, concealed handgun licenses, background checks, civil process and community programs.
To get a copy of a Ross County Sheriff’s Office incident or crash report by email, fill out the report request as completely as you can. Reports are emailed as a PDF attachment, and any juvenile names are redacted.
Copies of incident reports with open criminal investigations or pending court cases will only include an initial narrative with limited information.
Use the online incident submission form for non-emergency reports such as theft, property damage, scams, identity theft, lost property and trespass. The report is assigned to a deputy who follows up by email, and it may take several days before you’re contacted.
- Emergency? Call 911.
- Needs attention soon but not an emergency? Call dispatch at 740-773-1185.
- Theft of a firearm, motor vehicle or license plate must be reported by calling dispatch to speak to a deputy.
Submitting known false information is subject to criminal prosecution.
Look up who is in custody, sign up for custody status notifications, and read the jail rules before a visit.
Sex offender, violent offender and arson offender registrations are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, by appointment only, at 28 N. Paint St., Chillicothe. Offender registration line: 740-656-6051.
Ohio maintains a database for violent and arson offenders, but it is used by law enforcement and fire investigators only.
